It's very important that our interpreters are appropriate interpreters, obviously.

You know, I myself I've worked with some great interpreters over the years who I've really come to rely on, on the other hand.

Uh think of the time when I was doing a pregnancy loss counselling and the interpreter who was a telephone interpreter suddenly said, Ah, I'm being breathalyzed, I'll just have to pause for a moment.

And clearly, you know, that was a bit of a uh low point in um the whole conversation.

On the plus side, at least, there was an interpreter there.

And I, you know, I you do have to think sometimes about with the interpreter.

Doing the right thing for the woman.

So sometimes it is worth stopping and saying, Are you comfortable with this setting?

Um, unfortunately, you know, for some of the really small ethnic groups that we have, and I think that in particular interpreter in that case was Zoomy Chin, and it's very hard to get a different interpreter, but sometimes it may might be worth considering.

Um, if this is not if you're not feeling that this is working well.

Um maybe I should just hang up and request a different interpreter or bring the woman back at a different time.

Training of our clinicians um and continuity of interpreter service, clearly those are aspirational things that we uh we all hope for in the future.

Health literacy.

So considering a woman's health literacy is quite important and it's important to be able to try and provide your information in different ways.

We all learn in different ways, we understand things in different ways.

So um pictorial representations can be helpful and sometimes
