It is something that we still struggle with trying to figure out when are humans being brought in.
We know that early on we see human sacrifice especially in the outside.
They are tied to different things across time.
In specific in caves they are tied to agriculture and fertility.
The concept of human sacrifice for the Maya is sort of that ultimate gift that you can give to the gods, the ultimate blood gift you can give them.
