Since 2022, the inaugural celebration was held at Te Papa in Wellington.

And then it moved to Rotorua the year after, 23.

24 was in South Island.

Last year was in Ohakune.

So it moves around to different areas and different regions.

This year it's here.

Ngāti Whātua o Rākei.

There is going to be a traditional celebration that's open to the public and also broadcast live on TV where you can see they'll actually be doing karakia and karangatu, the different stars in the cluster, because they're connected to...

the different domains, our environmental domain.

So we honour the environment from where we get our sustenance from.

We farewell our dead and we look to the promise of a bright and prosperous future.

So there'll be a number of members of parliament there, Ngāti Whātua hosting.

In Auckland, City Council every year do wonderful events and they've got light shows and concerts.

But the length of the country, I really, you know, after five years, we do know that the stats are showing us that over 65% of the country are doing something to celebrate Matariki.

It's after five years.

So it's gaining traction.

I think that's because it's the messages, right?

It's about unity and collectivity.

There are no political agendas of Matariki.

It's beyond that.
