During our initial assessment, where we really try to get to know what are the specific issues that these departments are facing, we usually work across the service line.
So surgical services or maternal child health.
OK, those are two most popular.
We have a standard sort of system that we implement.
However, we always like to customize it to, again, what are the specific issues that that organization is dealing with?
OK, and then we build that in.
We meet initially with each of the leaders.
So if we work with a department, like three different departments or four departments, we will meet with that primary leader.
Sometimes they're called a manager.
Sometimes they're called a clinical director.
But it's during this initial meeting we have individually that I get to know them.
Okay, what are your challenges?
What have you tried?
What are the issues?
And we ask them all these questions.
One of the questions that I ask them is about their charge nurses.
So I'll say,
Tell me about your charge nurses.
And most of the time they're called charge nurses.
Every now and then they're called like coordinators.
