So what monoclonal antibodies are, it's mono meaning one and clonal meaning it's cloned.

So it's a reproduction of one particular antibody.

So the best analogy I can come up with is just imagine a tennis ball.

And that's the virus.

And tennis balls or koosh balls.

Remember those koosh balls you throw up and catch and those little hairs sticking off?

The virus has thousands of those things sticking off in all different directions.

And each one of those is a protein.

And your body, if it looks like this, your body comes along and creates an antibody that fits right over the top of it in a lock and key sort of fashion.

And it's the exact mirror opposite.

And it basically binds it up so that it can infect your cells.

It's actually miraculous, and it's a really elegant system that nature has developed for us to help combat viruses, bacteria, whatever the case may be, any sort of bad guy that's getting into your body.

And your body will produce, in response to each one of those things that it recognizes as foreign, an antibody.
