But if you don't have documents, how do you work?

legally and so then that becomes a huge risk factor because employers can exploit that gap in documentation.

So how how are the women refugees um speaking up about their experience of being exploited just even in labor?

So let me um ask for a little more clarification here.

Uh I often am in conversations where people use immigration and refugee like their synonyms.

They are not, right?

Right.

Can you describe the difference?

Well, and in some of your work that I was reviewing, you've talked about how conflict drives um refugee um movement and my experience that I based this conversation on recently of being at the camp in Greece for single mothers.

Um I met women

Women escaping the conflict in Sudan, Sudanese and and one little boy, because our students did child care, which so many times people offer wonderful conferences, is me being on my bully pulpit, and then don't provide child care.

It's like, well, how are they going to stay in and we have legal services here?

Yeah.

Oh my gosh.

But one of my students afterwards we're debriefing, and she said, this three-year-old that was laughing and playing on a beautiful playground with just the right size slide for him, all of a sudden dropped and froze.

And then she realized there was a plane going overhead and he ran.

And for being inside.

And that kind of conflict trauma that comes with them is not just on the children, but on the women as well.

And they're trying to uh serve their children, build resilience.
