keep our pee and poop in our whole lives and can have comfortable pain-free sex.
So along with that is teaching people how to properly poop using a squatty potty.
Well, straining with bowel movements and constipation can weaken your pelvic floor muscles over time.
So these muscles help keep urine and stool in until an appropriate time.
Then we can relax them to empty.
They support your pelvic organs.
They relax for...
sexual intercourse.
They contract and relax for orgasms.
They support our spine.
So they're super important.
And if they weaken over time, particularly in women, this can lead to leakage of urine, leakage of stool, pelvic organ prolapse.
So the number one thing I teach people is how to poop properly because I don't want them straining.
And again, straining just weakens these muscles over time.
But this is something we're never taught.
Nobody teaches us how to properly poop until you find me on social media or you have me on your show.
So the best way to relax your pelvic floor muscles is in a squatting position.
So historically, when people used to go to the bathroom, there were outhouses in the backyard and you would squat over a hole in the ground.
As we became more...
civilized and had more resources, we moved bathrooms inside and then we put a chair or a, you know, a toilet over this hole in the ground, which is how we got to modern day pooping posture.
