So sometimes you'll talk to kids, you're like, I know you know this.

Why am I looking at, you know, what you've written and it's all wrong?

And it's a problem with the translation of getting that knowledge out in the way that you've asked them to that is very challenging for them.

So um

I think.

I think it goes to trial and error for a lot of teachers.

You realize look, I can be really explicit here.

And I'm gonna say get your scissors out and stop.

I'm not gonna say get your scissors out, then cut circle, then color, then glue.

Forget it.

It's just take the scissors out and stop.

And you can decide what's important to you.

Do you wanna give all the directions and save yourself time?

But at the end everything comes out.

a mess, not the way that you want it to, and then your students are seeing that and they're feeling unsuccessful?

Or do you want to take the time to get it right?

And ultimately save time and support your students in showing what they know and helping them know more too.

And along those lines, having a shared language and a shared body of knowledge so that our novice teachers aren't fumbling their way through before they figure out, oh, I guess I need to explain that a little better.

I guess I need to show them how to um, you know.
