And there was this moment where I looked at her and I said, you know, Yanni, you look so beautiful.

And what she said to me, with tears welling up in her beautiful eyes, was, but I'm damaged.
And it, like, my heart, like, I was like, oh, my gosh.

Like, I still get, like, the chills when I tell that story because I was able to then...
talk her through that and show her on my phone.
I was like, look, you know, like, this is you.
You are beautiful.
You could be so much.
You could do so much.
After that moment, after I learned that she had escaped domestic violence and wound up
homeless and she had her ex was a stalker and she had to move far, far away from all that she knew and loved.
But it was that moment when she could actually see herself.
And we took a photograph of her, too.
