And then y you know, if you think about the history of sleep, it's so that sort of in my mind sets the stage for how we wound up with this one chunk of sleep at night.
And it's interesting that it's considered so bad if you wake up in the middle of the night when forever it was normal.
But then you add to that it's only really been since the start of the twentieth century that that we had anything that resembled sleep medicine or sleep research.
So rapid eye movement sleep wasn't discovered until nineteen fifty three.
And the stages of sleep that we know people go through the non-REM sleep stages, one, two, three, four, light to deep sleep, then cycle through a REM dream period.
That was like in the late fifties.
And all these things, melatonin was discovered in the late fifties.
And the first the first sleep labs, I don't think, appeared until the
Oh, I don't know, sixties, seventies maybe.
So we're talking about a relatively new field of science which has been exploding in information, both about what sleep is and how to measure it.
and gathering scientific communities together to study it with flagship journals and symposiums and conferences and
And and then discovering the links between
poor sleep and various health consequences.
So uh
It's it seems like it's kinda new because it is.
Kind of new.
I mean, there's there's just a lot that is feeding in t and and we have a preoccupation with health and wellness and youth.
in our Western society anyway, certainly in the United States.
