And so I was always trying to build an AI OSCI tutor.

OSCIS are objective, structured clinical exams.

Basically, it's like this: like I talk to you, you pretend to be a patient, and then there's a doctor in the room that's marking me based on how well I did playing doctor.

Um so we actually built

An AI tool called Oscar, which was a tool for students to practice doing OSCIS, but completely on their own, just with AI.

The AI would pretend to be a patient and it would also mark them on stuff like bedside manner and what questions they asked.

Um, and that was actually like 2019 era.

So we built it with transformers and I got to play with like ML methods.

And then I met the other co-founder of Heidi.

He joined to help me with some of the ML stuff as again.

way too complicated for me.

And then basically we realized the three of us that, well, you know, this is really cool for students, but like imagine solving the problems in healthcare.

Like there's so many misdiagnoses, there's so much work that needs to be done around healthcare that doctors hate doing and takes up their time.

And so we decided uh it's kind of coincided with some of my experience in healthcare.

Like I felt I felt a bit limited doing one patient at a time.

like I could only have so much impact as an individual doctor, but if I built tools that everyone would use, maybe I could help the system in a bigger way than maybe uh one at a time.

So again, like very organic, it was like, okay, this is really cool.

I can spend I can imagine spending my time here.

I can always go back to being a doctor.

So I'll just take a break, see if anyone would would be willing to give us some money and try to set up a company.
