I'm in a dance class and I'm gonna suck at dancing, right?
I imagine that I'm gonna take my wife to a tango class.
It's something I've always wanted to do, but...
When I go in the first time, I imagine I'm going to be like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis in True Lies.
Do you ever see that movie?
But anyway, so right at the beginning, they're like, they're spies and they're doing the tango at this, you know, like gangster's mansion or something.
And it's like, he leans over, she grabs the rose from the table in her mouth.
Like, I'm going to try that and I'm going to drop my wife and she's going to hit her, she's going to be mad at me and lots of people are going to see and I'm going to feel stupid, right?
And so that's why we don't do those things.
But it's so critical to driving those processes of neuroplasticity that we make those mistakes that we have to kind of let go of some of that that we feel as adults.
We think that everybody expects us to be good at everything and the best at everything and we shouldn't fail, we shouldn't make mistakes.
But as you have covered many times, it's so critical to do that.
And so I think...
acknowledging that shame component exists and leaning into it is going to be a really important part of trying to maintain this function over time.
I don't think I would make up anything about chemicals.
I think you could boil a lot of it down to we like to be good at stuff and we like to overcome things.
There's this core need to be challenged and then to overcome those challenges.
And I think there's a lot of
downstream effects of not doing that.
And they could be, you know, related to mental health, it could also be related to physical health, right?
