So whenever patients see me, often it's for a colonoscopy and they need to fart and pass the gas after the colonoscopy.

And they are always very embarrassed about that.

And so I always tell people that's part of the process.

Like we expect you to fart and so don't be embarrassed about it.

Yes, I think that really fits with the idea that your gut bacteria is very individualized to you.

And so they make probably whatever composition of them make some specific type of smell and composition of the certain gases.

So I think everybody probably does have a certain brand and interesting that you and your girlfriend can identify yours.

Yes, true love.

Yes, I would say it's as individualized as your fingerprint.

And, you know, that's still something that's very, it's a very hot topic nowadays.

And we know our gut bacteria doesn't just affect our digestive system, it affects pretty much our overall health.

But we're still learning about what, you know, how to tease out that individuality of our gut bacteria.

Yeah.

And if you're healthy, that can help promote healthy gut bacteria too.

So the things you do can also impact your gut bacteria.

But we know that it affects our digestive system, certainly, but also there's links with obesity, mental health, alcohol use disorder, all sorts of different things can affect, can be impacted by our gut bacteria.

So there's a normal amount of times to be farting.

There was another video on social media where somebody tried to scare their followers and say, oh, if you're farting too much, that's a sign that there is an issue with your liver.

So that's not true.

And so I actually debunked that video, told people, actually, you know, farting 10 to 20 times a day, that's within the range of normal.
