Because in order to make ends meet, when the cost of renting your office space is going up, and the cost of employing people is going up, and the cost of the medical devices and equipment that you buy is going up, doctors are basically forced into more patients in less time. This is what's happened over the last 30 years. And so here we are. And there's no time to actually talk about nutrition.
You just write a prescription. You walk out the door. It's really sad.

Doctors are trained, dieticians are trained, but they're not trained together. They're not talking to each other. I know zero registered dieticians from my medical education. I never met any. That's wild. Yeah, I never met any. So we're in our space, they're in their space. And then the problem is that there's not this integration. There's not communication between the parties.

And if truly, if our healthcare system cared about nutrition, they would allow people to use their health insurance, the money that they're spending, which obviously is a ton of money on health insurance. You would be allowed to take those funds and apply it into seeing a dietician and you're not.

There are very limited opportunities where a person can get their health insurance to cover the expense of going to see a registered dietitian. So for the average person to go and see a registered dietitian and have to pay out of pocket in addition to their health insurance fees, they're not willing to do it. So we end up getting stuck where basically like, yes, there are dieticians out there.

And I agree. Doctors should be integrated with those dieticians where they're working hand in hand. Ideally, in a perfect world, they're in the same office, in the same room with the same patient at the same time. That's the way the health care actually should be done. is we work in collaborative teams in the same space as opposed to communicating through charts.

But here we are, and the problem is if I refer to someone to a registered dietitian, there's a high probability they're going to have to pay with their own money for that.

Yeah. So for me, I guess there's a bit of a story that leads into this, which is that... I made the decision. So I started my social media in 2016. And this was to share the story of what was happening in my clinic because I felt like the world deserved to hear this, right?
