A huge distraction is now hanging over a Team USA skater at the Winter Games after her former childhood coach is arrested back home in Texas on sex crime accusations involving athletes.
Dallas area coach Benjamin Schroetz, age 47, is charged with indecency with a child and sexual assault.
Police say two athletes reported inappropriate relationships and investigators believe one began when the skater was still a minor.
Schroetz once coached American Olympian Amber Glenn, who is currently competing overseas.
A judge has barred him from coaching or contacting skaters while the case moves forward.
The arrest is rattling the skating community, where coach-athlete relationships often begin in childhood and last for years.
Former international competitor Beverly Wooden now works as a licensed counselor and is offering free therapy to anyone affected.
Wooden tells KTVT the structure of figure skating itself can create unusually private situations.
Authorities have not said whether additional accusers have come forward.
Schroet's attorney says he unequivocally denies the allegations and the case should be decided in court, not in public opinion.
Police say the investigation began February 15th after a report was filed with Allen Police, and it remains active as the Olympic flame burns thousands of miles away.
