Okay, so we've got these narrators, four different voices, four totally different perspectives, yet each is as believable as the other.
Like I said, I really felt like I was listening to, I don't know, a 12-year-old boy or an 18-year-old girl.
It's so spot on.
I feel like the neuroses that teenagers have, the things that they find cringe.
But I also found that it was never condescending.
What I was wondering is what character for you was the hardest to crack?
No, it's brilliant.
I mean, I love all the characters, but you're right.
Imelda's character does have such different depth, especially when you read Cass's part first and you have a very different idea of what her mum is like.
And then you get into Imelda's part and then you understand her much deeper.
I think I love that.
And I want to make sure that we talk about each of the characters.
So I guess let's follow the order in the book and start with Cass.
You know, she's got attitude and back chat that you'd expect from an 18-year-old.
She can't wait to escape her small town.
She's convinced that her parents know nothing.
And yet she's deeply insecure and a bit lost.
