I mean, we're going to talk about Noughts and Crosses today, which is one of my favorite books of all time.
It's the first in the series of six books published over 20 years, which actually brings us right up to date with Brexit and Donald Trump.
um I found Noughts and Crosses in my school library when I was 11 years old and it has everything forbidden love coming of age dysfunctional families and the books were still kind of coming out as I was reading them and that sense of anticipation was really something that was very exciting for me I feel like I was growing up with the books and
It was also when I actually started recommending books to people.
That was like the first one where I was like, you have to read this book.
And I wanted all my friends to read it with me.
So I think eventually, you know, Noughts and Crosses is the book that led me here.
So I feel very lucky to be talking to you today.
I remember when I was reading it, I was telling my parents to read it as well.
So we have all the books at home and it's just something that we've all shared with each other.
And I think also just what sets it apart from other young adult fiction at the time is that you address racism and classism in British society so head on.
