I think just academic writing in general could do with some of this.

Have you read, we just published an opinion piece by Paul Simpson for Halloween saying we need an army of academic zombie hunters, which essentially has a go at this and says there's no reason why academic writing has to be so impenetrable all the time.

And there are these phrases and things.
