And we knew we needed that.
And so, you know, we got him.
At the same time, Aaron, and I think Dave knows this, I was trying to establish a culture.
You know, we were in a rebuild mode, so we were building, and at that time, you know, I was trying to keep things going the right way, one way, my way, and so it was tough.
So Kyle came in, and to Kyle's credit, Kyle had some great ideas.
I mean, he had come from the Houston analytical atmosphere, and so Kyle was
shooting the threes and transition threes and offensive rebound, playing the possession game.
So I said, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, that's not what we're going to do.
So it started out pretty rough, you know, the first year, just because he wasn't saying I was right, wasn't saying I was wrong, but I was trying to establish our culture and our foundation, which we finally did, which led to a championship.
But it was tough going.
And also, too, on top of that,
If you remember, Jose Calderon was our starting point guard.
So Kyle came in with a mission.
He came in, and I felt sorry for Jose because he kicked Jose's little butt every day in practice.
So he came in, and then finally they traded Jose.
And then, too, at that time, we started to take on Kyle's personality, the toughness, the orneriness, taking charges, loose balls.
And so, you know, the team took on his personality, and that's when we took off.
Dave, I'll tell you what, that's a great question.
One thing about that is I never forget the night Kyle was about to be traded.
I got wind of it in talking to Masai, and he was traded.
