These guys were pretty serious, our criminal organisation.

One of them was an ex... An ex-met officer, yeah.

The guys there who pleaded guilty, the sentences came in at 8 to 11 years between the various individuals.

That's what they got.

Yeah, I think so.

And that's the way the judges would look at it.

And if there is anything in the background in terms of previous conviction...

And I mean, and with the MV Royal guys, including Gary Monks, it was put to the judge with each of the defendants by the different counsel that they pleaded guilty at the earliest moment they could.

We're talking about a trial with 114, 120 witnesses would have gone on for months.

So they're making the point like, you know, this has to be worth something in terms of mitigation.

And it always is rewarded.

It's always taken into account.

It's unlikely they'll get, you know, it will give them something off the headline of the sentence, which is, in a sense, proper order.

Like, you know, I mean, it saves a huge amount of time and resources, all the cards and, you know, just the legal fees alone, like, as it will be, of course, entitled to free legal aid.

So, I mean, all of that would just go on for months.

It'd be hugely complex, you know.
