Supreme Court today hears oral arguments in the case against Hawaii's so-called vampire rule, a law that requires anyone legally carrying their firearm to obtain explicit permission from the owners of any private property or enterprise to possess the firearm on their land or in their space.
Some Maui residents are challenging it on the basis of the 2022 Bruin decision in which the high court stated gun control laws must be rooted in tradition.
But this case, which could affect similar laws in other states, could seek to balance Second Amendment rights with private property rights.

The owners of Vendome, a nightclub in the South Beach section of Miami Beach, are conducting an internal review following the circulating of video on social media taken from inside the club.
in which the Kanye West song titled as a salute to Adolf Hitler is being played.
In a message posted to the club's Instagram account, the owners say they do not condone it, are deeply disturbed by it, and will hold responsible parties accountable.
West is infamous for repeated social media diatribes disparaging Jews.
The video in question also shows a number of social and streaming media personalities known for anti-Jewish and anti-Israel sentiment.

XAI, the artificial intelligence company started by Elon Musk and the power behind the AI known as Grok, will spend $20 billion building its new data center.
To be located in northern Mississippi, Governor Tate Reeves calls it the largest private investment project in Mississippi ever.
XAI says the giant plant containing servers and processors will house, as they call it, the world's largest supercomputer.
The project will fall under the state's 2024 initiative to lure tech industry to Mississippi.
