The House Ethics Committee today meets for a rare public hearing on Florida Democratic Congresswoman Sheila Scherfelis McCormick, who was indicted on charges of procuring $5 million in emergency funds from FEMA to be used for administering COVID-19 vaccinations via her family's health care company, but directing those funds to her political campaign.

Sherphilis McCormick is facing trials in both federal and Florida state courts, but today's hearing is focused specifically on supposed ethics infractions violating House of Representatives rules of conduct.

A vote against her could lead to the full House considering expulsion.

Sherphilis McCormick is still running for re-election.

The officer was reportedly working undercover, and according to the park police service, was ambushed.

Investigators say the suspects approached the officer's vehicle and began shooting.

The officer, who remains unidentified but is described as being a veteran cop, was able to drive away despite being shot in his upper body.

A 41-year-old Afghan man who once worked alongside U.S.

forces in his country but who overstayed immigration parole in the U.S.

and who was twice arrested for crimes died while in custody at a hospital.

Mohammad Nazir Pakhtiowal had been in ICE custody in Dallas for less than a day on March 13th when he needed medical attention and was brought to Parkland Hospital.

He died the next day.

The death is under investigation.

Pak Tiawal had been taken into custody due to his immigration parole ending last August.

He was arrested twice last year, once for theft and once for welfare fraud.
