It's just could McLaren have handled it a bit better?
Probably could have done.
A little bit, yeah, because the engineer wouldn't give just a random opinion.
What I suspect probably happened is because everybody always talks about having certain understandings and rules and all these kind of things.
So perhaps he may have legitimately felt, oh, we've talked about scenarios like this.
There's fuel saving going on.
Yeah.
But the trouble is then accessing emphatically what were the exact frame of reference in which these things are happening?
I'm not sure.
So I think that combined with the fact there's just this general unnerveness about team orders because of the ban, a hold position thing is less of a problem than a let someone pass.
And obviously this all kicked off at Hockenheim later in the year.
But it just shows how if you leave any uncertainty, any cracks...
that you have problems.
So, yeah, I imagine there was a reason that he thought there wouldn't be a pass made, but they'd not told... It was not clear.
You've just got to say to both drivers what's going to go on and make sure... Because it's only two lines of communication, so it should be fairly easy to do.
But what they've tried to do there is... Yeah, because the trouble is...
You've got the evidence of the engineer telling the driver that.
So what else actually can you say?
Because you probably throw more people under a bus saying, oh, well, yeah, that wasn't meant to happen.
We hadn't told him because then you get, well, why did he say that then?
