Like for me, it was kind of like because I'd come into Bravo Company and Bravo Company, it had a core group of guys who I'm pretty sure they'd been over on rotation too with Bravo.

So there were quite a few of the guys that were in there who'd already been to the GAN and they'd been, you know, rolling around in their SRVs or whatever.

And then you had another, the senior guys that had come down from the tag, and then you had a whole heap of, like, retreads and reos.

So it was a bit of a mixed bag.

I think a lot of the guys, the younger guys or the guys who'd been in, bro, probably thought that, like, blokes like me coming in or whatever, like, you know, who are these fucking crazy fucking cunts talking about, you know, hajis.

They'd never heard the term haji before.

They used to call them jundis.

You know, they didn't know what a, you know, if I can refer to like a militant, like, you know, Haji, you know, being done his pilgrimage to Mecca and, you know, he was there for jihad, you know, like that.

And they kind of thought that we had a bit of a, I think, militant mindset.

Like, you know, I've seen, as you had, I've seen some pretty horrifying shit over in Iraq.

And, yeah, Afghanistan's not Iraq, but, like, Afghanistan, there was a lot of, like, you know, heinous shit going on over there, you know, and –

So, yeah, I mean, like I went over there with the mindset that like, you know, yeah, we were conducting combat operations.

We're not doing like, you know, private military contracting.
