And in the Second World War, it ended up being re-rolled to make rations and instead of chocolate and candy, they'd make like ration packs and care packages for the soldiers.

Norman was groomed to pretty much take over the operations of the company, whereas Eric, he volunteered for the army as an artillery and he went in as a sergeant, right?

And so once he got into the army, into the artillery corps, they pretty quickly discovered that this guy was like, you know, fuck, you know, this guy should be an officer, not for tactics, but he actually developed a coating for the artillery pieces that were over in PNG to stop them from corroding.
So he saw service in the Pacific, specifically PNG, but not direct combat.
He was a boffin, you know what I mean?
Like if he was alive now, he'd be working for DSTO or something.
Yeah, yeah.
So that's the two grandfathers.
And then my uncle, who's pretty much like my pseudo-father figure, his name's Arthur MacDonald, another Scotsman.
He's just moved down to Phillip Island for his retirement and he loves it down there.
He was a Nasho.
He was conscripted and he ended up in, as he calls it, two RA, like two RAR.
Um, he was going to uni in Canberra, a very promising AFL career ahead of him.
He was probably going to look at going all the way.
He was a very, he was engaged to be married quite young and his numbers got called up and, um, and his father was a World War II vet.
And so anyway, Mac got called up.
He went and did his bit, as he says, and unfortunately he copped a few injuries over there.
