And because a lot of us had the experience of training with the tag, not – well,
providing ourselves as training props for them as hostages and terrorists.
We'd worked with the TAG and so we knew we were like, oh, well, they're going to raise another one over on the east coast and they were looking for volunteers.
And they were like – and back then, you know, they knew like, shit, look, we've got –
We've raised Bravo Company and then we've essentially farmed all of these guys out to Charlie, Delta and Alpha Company for this Tanager trip.
But where are we going to pull from to get these numbers?
So anyone could apply.
Like you could say, look, I'm interested in doing it.
So they made you go back to Australia early.
It was like two weeks or three weeks before the trip was due to end and they had people from SFTC saying,
And obviously from SASR and, you know, as they call it SASRAC, like senior SAS guys that were still in the reserves that were helping overseeing training that were basically, they put together this kind of like mini sort of fucking, I wouldn't call it a selection.
It was just like, if you want to do this, we need to get this up and running.
We know that not everyone's going to be able to pass this CQB course because it's a fucking hard course.
So I think there was about 100 of us that came back from Timor early and they put us through.
We had to do like some fucking...
navigation training and some agility training, some environmental exposure training and heights and stuff like that, subterranean stuff, and just to see if blokes, would you freak out if you had to, like, you know, fast rope off the side of a building, abseil off a building?
Could you handle crawling around in a tunnel in the dark with water running around you, all that sort of shit?
And from that group of guys, they selected the initial group of blokes that then went over to Swanbourne and then undertook the basic and advanced close quarter battle course.
And they were supplemented by guys from the clearance divers.
And those guys became the initial tag East.
