So there's everything gone live in the last week from, for example, graphic design, event management, communications, payroll services, engineering consultancy, things like water testing and the marking of car parks, the provision of hot school meals,
the installation of new playgrounds, legal services being procured, and training was being procured by Sligo, where I was just myself on Friday with Deputy Frank Fian to meet with Sligo Chamber of Commerce.
And I suppose the reason I'm meeting with businesses and Chambers of Commerce up and down the country is to encourage Irish businesses to get onto that e-tenders website to see what opportunities are out there and to tender for business.
And I suppose that's what today's about.
It's an opportunity...
for people to learn about how the system works.
If you've successfully tendered before, if you have a government contract, it's really easy to get another one.
And that's because you know how the tendering system, eTenders, works.
You've proven yourself a reliable partner that can deliver on time and on budget.
And all of that stands to you.
So I suppose today is really an opportunity for companies who maybe haven't tendered before or who haven't successfully tendered before
to learn how e-tenders work, to get registered on that site and to learn what a winning tender looks like.
You're absolutely right.
I mean, that's the feedback that I've been getting.
We're putting together Ireland's first ever national public procurement strategy at the moment.
And in preparation for that, I hosted workshops right across the country in all provinces to engage with local businesses on the ground and chambers of commerce to see what are the barriers, what's stopping you from getting involved.
Sometimes people think it's two owners.
They haven't gone through the processes.
Other times people have and they fell at a hurdle or they found an element of it difficult.
And I suppose that's exactly what we're doing now.
