I think obviously everyone's been talking about Zifu lately with GLM 5.2.
I think what most people don't realize is when they started.
Yeah.
Right?
They started years before ChachiBT.
This is rebranded.
And so I remember how hard it was to work on these things before the rest of the world got excited about it.
and so i have an immense amount of respect for people uh who were working on improving models when it wasn't the sexy thing to do when believing in lms you know was was going to get you ridiculed i remember like back in 2016 when we were doing what we're calling a machine learning on code with some of these models you know we would people we just frankly laugh at us like to be like this makes no sense like why are you wasting all these like millions of dollars on trying to figure this out and uh
And so I would say they're probably the one that I think deserves the shout out, not just because their latest model is very good, but because they fought to get here.
And I think every foundation model company, it takes time to get here.
It took us three years to get to the model that we're now going to be releasing.
And now the time in between the models is counted in weeks.
It's no longer counted in months or years.
But this stuff's hard.
And if we can make it a little bit easier for the next person, we should all do so.
Because if we don't do so, we've got a small window before models are really impacting recursive self-improvement to a level where catching up otherwise might become unfeasible.
And we should try to, in that window, encourage as many neolabs or whatever we want to call them to start.
And so one of my kind of current...
mission but qualm it's like i want to encourage whoever is a researcher right now who thinks they can actually tackle this to go and leave and become my competitor like start another foundation because i think we need it um i think otherwise we're not going to be in the world where uh i don't want to just be the fifth or the sixth company that wins i want to look at a world where there's a loss of choice
Well, look, this is an oversimplification and I always asterisk with that because it can land a little bit the wrong way in people's minds.
