Yeah, I I think uh and and y you're you're you're making me think about this I uh in in a way that I ha hadn't quite before.
Um so the the level at which I've thought about it uh is that you've got these pot different embeddings.
Um when I see a microphone visually, uh it's gonna there's a certain there's a there's a vector representation uh of what that sensory perceptual experience and I don't mean the quality.
I don't mean I'm not getting into phenomenology, but there's something happening in our brain my brain that is sort of the representation of what it means for me to see this object um from from the visual standpoint.
Okay, that's one embedding.
And then we also have the word microphone.
Which is a completely different embedding.
There's simply a word uh that lives in language space.
Uh what that embed what it what it means is that uh you know there's a specific embedding.
So it's kinda helpful to think about a sort of a point in a space.
So, you know, you've got this super high dimensional space, it uh the the uh and each uh each individual token is is uh is simply a vector in that space.
So me namely so it really picks out a specific point.
Say microphone lives right here, uh, in this linguistic space.
And then my perceptual uh experience, uh I don't want to use that word, but my perceptual um kind of kind of uh grasping of this microphone being here is this point in in a completely different space.
Uh.
It's perceptual space, which has you know, it's it repres it captures other kinds of information.
In language, so let's actually talk about this for a second.
Or in language, the space, uh, if if you want it to be a useful, meaningful space, you're gonna want things that have similar meaning, uh they're likely to actually be have proximity to each other.
And this this is to some extent what the large language models learn.
