Obviously reading about and being into like dark and morbid stuff is not a red flag in itself, I don't think.

but the red flags certainly did start popping up the further they looked into Boye's phone.

I think Boye had been searching a lot of things on the internet and then deleting said search history, which is why it took them a while to find this kind of stuff.
