Jackson County Coroner Bruce Lynn Jr.
says the investigation's ongoing, but the body of 18-year-old Nolan Wells has been positively identified.
Park rangers found Wells' body Monday morning on the northwest tip of Horn Island.
His mother reported him missing on the night of July 4th after he'd traveled to the island with friends.
Crump announced Tuesday that he's representing the family and will conduct an independent review of the circumstances.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is asking for any photos or videos of Wells from July 4th.

A federal judge had originally ruled that those Mississippi Supreme Court districts violated the Voting Rights Act and needed to be redrawn.
But with the Calais decision, both parties in the case asked that the ruling be overturned.
Governor Tate Reeves says because of that, there's no need for the special session that would have started next week.
But redistricting is still the goal.

On social media, Reeves says he expects that to happen between now and elections in 2027.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey says she hopes the Calais decision will resolve the state's own redistricting challenge, while Mississippi will hold a special session for state Supreme Court districts in less than a month.
It's those local and state-level maps that Dev Wakely, with advocacy group Alabama Arise, says could have the biggest impact in the Gulf South.
African Americans make up over a quarter of the population in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi.
