These guys, you all have heard what these guys are saying in return.

In fact, you all heard what the officer is alleged to have said after he shot Rene Good allegedly in the face three times.

You all heard the expletive that he said as she rolled away dead in that car.

This is what we are experiencing.

This is untethered.

This is unmitigated violence.

And I'm looking around and saying, where are we going with this?

Where does this end?

What is the end game?

They didn't ask me to speak.

I didn't even know that the hearing was happening.

So I'm here.

I would say to them that we need what this has revealed to many of us is and this isn't going to happen in the immediacy of now.

But this has revealed to us the absolute danger of not having more checks available.

and not having more entities that can balance out power that is coming from our executive branch.

I never knew that the Insurrection Act, the language of it, is exceedingly broad.

a president the ability to make his or her own determination of whether or not they believe an insurrection is happening.

And there have been some courts that have reviewed some of the decisions to use the Insurrection Act.

But quite frankly, according to the direct letter of the law, it doesn't seem as though they have a lot of authority there.

I'm seeing the way that ICE has just quadrupled in size to the effect that it would be
