When can we start seeing pictures?
So at the moment it's traveling out to its deep space destination.
It's going to be orbiting the sun the same place as the James Webb Space Telescope.
A point called L two where the Earth's gravity kind of balances so it doesn't need that much power to orbit the sun.
And it's gonna take about three months to get there and for all of the commissioning and tests to be complete.
And then at the end of those three months, that's when they're gonna start releasing their first look images and they're gonna start the scientific observations.
So probably end of November, early December, we can start to see some really spectacular pictures coming out of Roman.
Um and they're also gonna be releasing all of their scientific data that they collect immediately.
They have this open sky.
Sky's policy that means any astronomer, but also just any person can use the data straight away to start making observations and learning things, which is quite cool.
I certainly in terms of spectacularness, yes, absolutely.

It can't like I said before, it's not quite as powerful as the James Webb Space Telescope.
So so those first images were things like, oh, you know, these are really, really old galaxies, they're from close to the birth of the universe.
We're probably not gonna get quite that close from Roman.
My guess would be we'd be getting much larger vistas, 'cause that's kind of its job to take these much bigger pictures.
I don't know what they're gonna be releasing first, but that would be my guess.
They've got a planned mission of five years and then an extension of another five years.
And then possibly it could go for longer than that.
The limit on how long it can go is fuel, and they've designed it to be refuelable, but they don't at the moment have a refueling mission planned.
