We moved to Franklin, Massachusetts.

My older brother broke the high jump record at our school, and years later.

My older brother's closest friend, a guy named Chris Perry, said, uh, hey, they they have all of our records on on our website, on the high school's website.

And you go there and my brother's records are not there.

And uh Chris Perry's his record is there, which was shorter than my older brother's record.

Uh another example uh just feeling like you don't matter to the community is um

I was like my high school diploma, my first name is misspelled to a school I attended for several years.

So I I think

I I think it's a difficult thing to say we belong to this community when you don't ever treat us like we are members of said community.

And and and this is another example of that.

Like you didn't treat this young man like he's a member of the community.

Uh you didn't treat his mother and father like they're members of the community, and you didn't treat his younger brother who apparently is on the team as if he is a member of that team.

And and that is that is problematic.

when you're in the community you have to have hard conversations and make difficult choices, but you need to lean into what is right.

And too often the the people in positions of power choose comfort over what is right.

Yeah, but I don't I you know, I don't think

You know, I think about the racist history in Mississippi and and I think about the Medgar Evers investigation and and all of the stuff that came up when I was a kid when they retried Byron Dealer Beckwith.

And the the the the ideas in Mississippi were just leave that where it is.

And not thinking about
