And a non-Black person will say, I'm from there and it's not racial at all.

And I'm like, well, yeah, it's not racial because you're wearing the wrong uniform to experience it.

So two things can be true at the same time.

My lived experience is that it is very racial in that particular area.

Your lived experience is it's not because you don't have the history and you don't have the uniform that I have that brings those things about.

So we have to start understanding that two things can be right at the same, can be accurate at the same time.

What ends up happening

the Black person voices things from their perspective and the non-Black person calls them wrong.

And once that happens, we feel, and it's so clear, once that happens, we're now gaslit.

And when any human being is gaslit, they start defending their positionality because their literal psyche is at risk.

When you gaslight me,

i either have to defend my psyche or feel crazy those are the only two options so when you gaslight me and tell me there is no racism in mississippi i either have to go oh wow i must be crazy then because i thought there was or i have to come back at you and say yes there is here's the mountain of evidence for that to be true instead i want the non-black person

to humble themselves and say, maybe someone else had a lived experience that is different from mine, but equally valid.

And we are not good at doing that.

And the non-Black community is historically not good at doing that when listening to Black voices.

Man, I wish I could say more about that, but when I heard the threats and the review bombing that the mother was going through and some of the people on social media posting about this story and the threats that they've been receiving, including me, I wish I could tell you.

The best I can do is to say,

i think people view the don lemons and the whomever as just like a thing in the screen instead of an actual living breathing human being that has feelings and family and thoughts and we live in these kind of echo chambers and we forget and i and i would like to spend a whole lot of time talking about this today like the most the the best of us are able to choose our emotions
