Somebody said to me the U.S.

got hosed because they didn't have a France or an Italy to play against.

I would also argue that the U.S.

was in a really good position because their group with Germany, Latvia, and Denmark, they didn't have opponents like Czechia or Switzerland or Finland or Slovakia.
