He said, if you're only allowed to protect one goalie and you have two goalies with a no-move clause that requires you to protect them, what happens?

It's not, what do you do if you don't have anyone to expose, where the answer is go trade for someone to expose.

It's what you do if more players are contractually required to being protected than you're allowed to protect.

And I wrote, what a loser I am to get this wrong.

And he goes, and the guy laughed and he says, you know what?

I don't really know what the answer is either.

And he said, if he was to sign two goalies with full no-move clauses past an expansion date, what does the league do when expansion rolls around and you can only protect one?

Because right now there's no rules set forth.

So he said, it's an unanswerable question.
