But perhaps maybe, and I'm so incredibly grateful to my parents and all the opportunities that they've given my brother and I growing up and the support and all those things.
Honestly, I can't believe it, that they're my parents in a lot of ways.
But I guess there's always been this...
this part of it where it is like a perspective of like what sport actually means in the grand scheme of things.
I remember mum telling me, and it really stuck with me, like I was probably like seven or eight and I was in the back of her Kia,
I don't even know if they make them anymore, but a little hatchback thing.
And she was driving me to an athletics carnival and I was packing it.
Like, it was a pretty big deal.
Like, we got to compete at Homebush, like a school athletics carnival, Bancroft Primary School.
And, you know, so it was like, it was off campus.
We were on the way to this athletics carnival and I was so nervous.
I felt so sick and I didn't like, I just wanted like, honestly, if someone had said we can turn the car around right now and go home, I would have been like, yes, please.
And I remember mum kind of looking at me and being like, are you okay?
And I was like, I don't want to do it.
And she said to me like, well, why don't you want to do it?
And I'm like, oh, I don't want to.
Like, I don't want to be bad.
Like, I'm kind of scared of being beaten, I guess.
