Because I th you know, I think we write down what we take to be a a definite impersonal microscopic theory.
But I think it can be quite hard to see sometimes the ways in which the what we think is an impersonal microscopic theory in fact depends on specific features of our perspective of of as observers.
If if for example, uh
Sometimes people write down micros microphysical theories that involve something like time evolution or something temporally directed.
That is something that I am intempted to say is a feature of our macroscopic experience.
That's not there in the microscopic world.
I mean that's just one example, but I sort of worry that, you know, it's it's hard to know in advance what's going to happen in future, and it's very hard to know uh sort of separate out the bits of our theories that are sort of really describing the microscopic world versus.
Us uh in fact, sort of artifacts of our our perspective.
Uh and so so that that that makes me worried about any attempt at at sort of describing emergence.
Like how do we know that we have really removed all the macroscopic stuff and ended up with just a microscopic theory from which we can sensibly describe the emergence of the macroscopic world?
I mean it it's bec it's there's a sort of n nice quote from James about quantum mechanics involves uh
the c the inferential stuff and the the the causal or real stuff all being scrambled up in a big omel that no one can unscramble.
Um but I think it's not just quantum mechanics.
I think this is a a problem throughout science that it's it's very hard in practice to distinguish
things that that are sort of sort of independent of us versus things that are artifacts of our perspective.
And if you're not sure that you've you've completely unscrambled the omelet, uh, how can you really be confident that that the emergent story you're telling is is capturing all those elements correctly?
Quite that one a loss, yes.
