I'm here tonight to ask you to consider Central Avenue as an implementation project of the Active Transportation Plan. podcast-host

And it's this is really about safety. podcast-host

Central Avenue is already an important house. podcast-host

Students, also high school students, but many, many commuters heading to shoreline office parks, downtown, and the transit center. podcast-host

Uh but there's a problem: the this connection is not safe enough. podcast-host

It's it's uh designated as a bike boulevard and a safe route to school by five area K through 12 schools, but speeding is common and and people in bikes um are still mixing. podcast-host

With motor vehicle traffic. podcast-host

So, and this isn't a theoretical concern. podcast-host

The intersection of Central and Moffitt is uh identified by the city of as one of 15 bicycle and pedestrian near-miss hotspots. podcast-host

Um and while the city is enabling you know more biking and also more density in our neighborhood, um people leaving the Stephen Creek Trail must navigate this this dangerous gap uh to reach Moffat Boulevard and other destinations, especially downtown. podcast-host

So that gap is exactly what I believe the ATP should address, and and and uh and what we're podcast-host

asking tonight is not for a specific design, but just to recognize Central Avenue as an ATP implement implementation gap and direct staff to evaluate in all ages and abilities, bicycle facilities. podcast-host
