And then they don't.

That is what makes Donald Trump look slightly ridiculous in the end, that he keeps saying things that are contradicted by events.

We're very close to a ceasefire and then nothing happens at all.

And presumably, the longer the Strait of Hormuz is shut and oil isn't flowing freely around the world, then that too is going to hit him at home because gas prices at the pumps are going to be high.
