Uh so since the last time we spoke we've had the UK LMC's conference in Belfast. voice-verified

So this is the the conference of LM C representatives from across the UK, all four voice-verified

There were a couple of really interesting votes that happened at that LMC's conference and as we were coming in to record this week's podcast there's been some further developments on one of those stories. voice-verified

The thing most people will have seen is that LMC's voted on moving towards a hybrid NHS private model for general practice, including balloting the profession in each country on introducing a means tested subscription-based service similar to NHS dentists. voice-verified

So there were four parts of this motion and underpinning all of them was this overriding theme. voice-verified

that NHS general practice as it currently stands is no longer financially viable and something has to change. voice-verified

So the conference bat calls for a new contract that allows GPs to provide private services to their NHS patients where they're not provided by the NHS. voice-verified
