They were never perfect, of course.
It's a displacement camp.
But they have gotten worse.
Roydo spoke to a resident.
His name is Kato Lono.
He is a bereaved father who lost two of his infant children in the past month from what is suspected to have been Ebola.
He said, nobody should have to live in these conditions.
No human being should have to live in these conditions.
And he described toilets that don't work, insufficient hand washing facilities.
And we saw those toilets.

And the residents are saying we have to actually empty these toilets with our bare hands.
That is a problem in a region where there's Ebola, because Ebola spreads through bodily fluids.
It spreads through diarrhea, through human waste.
So if people are living amongst that filth, the chances are that the disease spreads.
Now funding across the board for wash services, that's water, sanitation, hygiene, toilets, water, cesspits, that sort of thing, has fallen across the board in Congo.
It's not just the US that has retrenched.
It is across the board.
So in 2025, there was less than half the funding available from the year before.
