So I think obviously it's only like retrospectively I've delved into the kind of Dolly archives and read a bunch of obituaries and been like, oh god, her, the mark she's left on the world is is such a profound one.

And I was actually reading an OBIT um in the Times yesterday, and I love they quoted this.

Um Dolly Parton was asked how she would prefer to be remembered, she invariably answered as a songwriter, You're putting something in the world that wasn't there yesterday, in which you hope people are still going to be singing after you're gone.

And I read

that and I thought, God, how magical, like everyone is singing your praises and your songs after you're gone.

So yeah, I feel like I'm kind of retrospectively appreciating the imprint that she had

I mean, like most notably, after she recorded I Will Always Love You, the iconic song that we all know and love, um, and had a hit, Elvis Presley, none other than Elvis Presley, asked to record the song, but he demanded in return that she should give him half.

Of the songwriting credit and insu and the ensuing royalties.

I mean, Elvis Prez is quite a hard person to turn down.

I mean, that would have been a guaranteed, like, you know, made it successful overnight.

And she didn't know how big that song was gonna be yet.

But she refused and he never recorded the song.

And then in nineteen ninety two, Whitney Houston recorded I Will Always Love You for the film Bodyguard, hence why we all now kind of know and love it.

And her version became a number one hit.
