yeah i mean i think a lot of this work was started with uh san diego because the newest pitches the sinker the change he was throwing in september last year i think that's part of why i liked the deal because i thought hey he's shown the aptitude to add these pitches and that was the thing that he needed to do to take the stress off of his fastball and slider he was throwing them so much the way he put it to me when i talked to him was he has more ways to get to strike two now

So he had been throwing a lot of early strike sliders.

People had been sitting on them.

And as good of a pitch as you have, if you only have two and they can sit on a pitch in a location, they can do a lot better against that pitch.

So now he's thrown enough wrinkles in there that they can't necessarily sit on anything in any one spot in any one count.

And you can see the result of it.

I mean, even if the changeup isn't the greatest changeup and the sinker isn't the greatest sinker, they're enough to take the pressure off.

I didn't get to talk to too many people, but the main thing that I've got for the Jays is just that it seems that they go as Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

I mean, it's pretty obvious analysis.

I had circled this team as possibly undergoing some regression after their peak last year just because George Springer's age, Kevin Gossman's age, there were some older players on this team.

The good news for them, I think, is that there are also some younger players on this team that can come forward over the next few years.

And so I heard some of your preamble, and

Yes, I mean, I do think that they will need to sign the pitchers next year.

But, you know, I think they should be careful about how many years and how many dollars they put on it, because this is a team that needs to do the most difficult thing of sort of getting younger while improving in free agency at the same time.

Yeah, I think Gossman's got to be one of the best available starting pitchers because I think he can start a playoff game for you.

The amount of guys that can actually start a playoff game for you is, you know, on one hand, you know, and probably didn't fill it up.
