Let me tell you something.
Homelessness didn't start January 1st, 2022.
These are problems that this city has been facing for generations.
But you know what?
I did something about it.
I came into office January 1st, 2022.
We saw people living on the side of high, on the highways.
We saw people living in our streets, cardboard boxes, tents.
I went and visited them when I first became mayor.
I saw people who were schizophrenic, bipolar, drug power, human waste, stale food.
And I made the determination that we're not going to live like this.
And I
I got a lot of pushback.
People say, Eric, you could never win the homeless problem.
I say, yes, we are going through, Don, try.
And we did.
