Uh Nathan Smith, right, who's from this area, who was on the Olympic team, you know, four years ago when NHL NHLs were not there.

I mean he's he's really the first homegrown Tampa uh based uh player to make it to the NHL and uh everything else

So yeah, it it's it's growing.

Um and and this this spotlight that's been on the game over the past two weeks and highlighted by an American gold medal first time since nineteen eighty is gonna do nothing but help grow the game.

But yeah, I'm not even sure Phil could have and he said it, he said there will be an NHL player from this area, but I don't think he could have imagined that you know, you could have this many players come from Florida uh have an impact.

Yeah, I mean look, I mean the Hughes brothers were certainly born here, their dad worked young in the solar bears, you know, but they moved around quite a bit uh because of his career and and everything else that he did.

Well yeah, born in Orlando, so I I don't know if anybody would have thought that two kids from Orlando would have two of the biggest goals in US hockey history.

Uh the play of Slovakia.

So win their group.

Um, you know, and if anybody was watching the group play, uh have you ever seen a team celebrate the third goal in a five three loss that was scored in the final minute to win Slovak?

Uh that's the great part about international hockey is some of those things pop up, right?

Because it meant that they could win the group and they ended up did winning the group because of that.

They knew the importance of that goal.

I mean Sweden even pulled a goaltender after that to get the goal differential back to where it was.

Um, you know, and Sweden ends up as a second

seventh seed and they get to face the US uh in the quarterfinals and that was a tough matchup for both teams and and you're gonna go on away in in a two one game.

Yeah.
