I didn't strike out a lot.
But you look at my career numbers and you're like, eh, maybe you should have waited for the pitch middle-middle because your numbers weren't very good.
So when you face a guy like Schlittler,
That's where I think the Jays can succeed.
But geez, Luis, this dude's got an electric arm.
It can be complicated, but here's what I would say.
As a hitter who loved hitting fastballs, I would love to face.
That is the number that I would look at every single time.
How many fastballs does he throw?
I don't care if it's a sinker cutter, four seamer, whatever.
So my approach and your approach as a hitter needs to be, I know I'm on time for the four seamer.
So I got to be on top of the ball.
Then I got to say, well, if I pull off the ball, so if I'm worried about the sinker and the sinker's running in on my hands and I pull off on it, best case scenario, I hit a ground ball at third baseman.
Worst case scenario, I square it up off the inside of my left knee.
Okay, so that's not a good approach if you get a sinker.
Now, if he throws me a cutter and I do take the same swing and I'm pulling off, now I'm cueing it off the end and I'm not getting anything out of it.
A guy like Cam Schlittler, you need to stay on top of the four-seamer
And that means maybe you're swinging a ball above where you think it should be because the ball just planes out and it stays true and it feels like it rises, but it just doesn't drop as normal as it normally does.
So for me, you need to see Cam Schlittler
Up, out, over, and you've got to take him to right center.
