As a result, this company's not even ever going to get built.
On the flip side, I tell the story about the founders of Nova Nordisk who developed insulin treatments for diabetes in the 1920s.
They brought the technology from Canada back to Denmark.
And when they set the company up, one of their principles, which is interesting, they went to Canada because there were a hundred husband-wife team, the wife Marie had diabetes herself.
Which at the time was a death sentence.
She was a doctor.
She was one of the early female doctors in Denmark.
Incredible woman and an incredible life story.
Her husband was a Nobel laureate.
And so he was going to North America to give a series of lectures about his Nobel Prize winning research.
And she went with him.
Even though she was dying of diabetes, she went with him on this tour.
And when they were there, they got wind that these Canadian researchers had figured out how to synthesize artificial insulin for the first time and that it was going to be revolutionary for the treatment of diabetes.
And they went to Canada, they made a detour of their trip, went to Canada, saw the technology for themselves, and they were like, we have to commercialize this in Denmark.
So they made a deal with the Canadian researchers.
Can we license this technology from you?
And what we'll do to assure you that we have good intentions, you can trust us, we will set it up so that the technology itself is owned by a nonprofit foundation.
And then we'll commercialize it in a for-profit subsidiary of the nonprofit foundation.
Profit.
