We're already starting to see like vibe-coded software fail in production, and now nobody even knows how it was.

Because look, these models are incredibly impressive.
Okay.
I don't mean to poo-poo the progress we've made in language models.
It's amazing what we've been able to do.
But it's a bit like the talking dog.
What's incredible is that the dog talks, not necessarily that what he says.
Like it's just so incredible that a language model can write software.
Yeah, if you told me that 20 years ago, I would never have believed it in a million years.
And I'm pretty knowledgeable about these things.
It just seems incredible to me.
So what a breakthrough.
Okay.
I don't mean to take anything away from it.
From it.
But at the end of the day, these are auto-regressive models that are especially good at the things that are in the training set.
And as we build more and more stuff with them, we are creating more and more situations.
We're taking them out of distribution more and more and more often.
People call that hallucination, which I think is a very unfortunate anthropomorphism because what's going on is not a hallucinate.
